RMX™ Reverse Tanto

First off, Work Sharp’s customer service is absolutely impeccable. I ordered the wrong item, reached out, and they had me squared away first thing in the morning. Now onto the fun part.

When I first pulled the knife out of the box, I’ll be honest, I was disappointed. It felt too light, almost toy‑like, and nothing about it screamed “real knife.” So I set it to auto mode and did what any reasonable person would do. I grabbed my old high school Algebra textbook from storage and decided to settle a decade old score. I tossed the book in the air, sliced through pages mid‑flight, tried to jam blade through as many sheets as possible, and somewhere in that moment of bliss, the knife started to make sense. The weight that felt wrong at first suddenly felt good, the blade stayed sharp through every cut, and it absolutely laid vengeance to that textbook. Sure, it struggled trying to slice through the hardcover like it was paper and I get it, it's a knife, not a sword, but it did its damage and appreciated it for that.

Ergonomically, the knife is excellent. It performs right alongside my premium knives when doing the same tasks. The only reason I’m giving it four stars is the pocket clip. I know this knife isn’t meant to be a display queen and was built to wage war on cardboard, but I still like my knives looking clean after a beating. The RMX is a most own, especially since you can convert from a manual to an automatic knife yourself. They didn’t go crazy with the design, but they hit the mark when it comes to fundamentals and mechanics of what a knife should have. The options of the blade steel/blade design and colors they started with is great. I went with the Tanto version in Black that comes with CPM 3V instead of the Drop Point Version with M390. Don’t get me wrong, M390 is awesome steel but I already own other knives with that steel and I waned to try something different. I love the Tanto that Work Sharp made for the RXM and the blade is sharp, almost cut myself when I was testing the sharpness. The handle is sleek and super light, I don’t know of another knife that comes with a Magnesium made handle. It’s unique and feels fantastic in the hands, the finger choil is spot on. It adds another level of support and you feel more confident when holding the RXM, the pocket clip is ambidextrous and fit for deep carry. Now my favorite part and why I purchased this work of art of a blade. This has to be the most innovative knife ever created and first of its kind, the ability of configuring this knife from a manuel to an automatic is so cool. When I got a notification that my package from Work Sharp was here, I ran to my mailbox and went to work.
