At Work Sharp, we like things sharp. We also like things spicy.
When the RMX Habanero came together- Habanero Red Cerakote over a blacked-out blade- Kyle Crawford, our Director of Product, decided the drop needed a proper companion. Kyle has lived in Southern Oregon for 25 years, but he was born and raised in Vermont, and his answer came straight from home.
"Butterfly Bakery of Vermont. They're my longtime favorite. They make the best hot sauces."
Kyle Crawford, Director of Product
You may have seen Butterfly Bakery of Vermont on Hot Ones. They're a small-batch maker building sauces with peppers from small Vermont farms.
For this drop, they built one that exists nowhere else: Heat Treated Habs. A full 5 oz habanero sauce made to Kyle's specifications. You cannot buy it separately. The only place it lives is inside this box, next to the knife that shares its name.
What Is the RMX Habanero?
The RMX Habanero is our Thumbstud Reverse Tanto with a limited, spicy finish, released as a small-batch Reserve Series. Habanero-Red Cerakote covers the ultralight one-piece magnesium handle; the CPM-3V blade and hardware are blacked out, accented by a gold thumbstud.
-
CPM-3V reverse tanto blade, 60 to 62 HRC, sharpened to 15° per side. A thin, slicey edge with metal behind it where it matters. Cardboard all morning, strapping in the afternoon, without the edge folding or the tip becoming something you babysit.
-
Thumbstud open, button lock closed. One hand either way, nothing to set up, and your thumb finds the stud without looking by about the second try.
-
Manual only, everywhere. There's no automatic pivot in the box and no way to fit one, so it ships legal in all 50 states exactly as sold.
-
One piece of magnesium, 2.4 ounces. No scales, no seams for grit, nothing to work loose, and light enough to stop being a decision you make in the morning.
-
One screw and it's apart on your bench. Clean it, sharpen it, reassemble it. No specialty tools, and a Lifetime Warranty behind the knife.
-
In the box: Heat Treated Habs. The 5 oz Butterfly Bakery habanero sauce made for this drop. Expect bright fruit up front and real heat behind it.
