Each bottle of diamond emulsion in the Work Sharp Leather Strop and Diamond Emulsion Kit contains enough for dozens of applications. Longevity depends on how often you strop, but most users find a single bottle lasts several years with regular use.

Diamond emulsion is a fine sharpening and polishing liquid made by suspending diamond particles in an oil-based solution.

Emulsions apply more evenly, offer more grit options, are easier to clean, and don’t build up on the leather like compounds can.

The smooth side holds the emulsion better and provides a more consistent surface for fine sharpening and burr removal.

Use very light pressure, just the weight of the knife, to avoid rolling the edge.

The 7-micron emulsion removes remaining burrs, and the 1.5-micron emulsion polishes the edge to a mirror finish.

After extensive testing, diamond emulsions gave the best results. The 7- and 1.5-micron emulsions complete the grit progression for a razor-sharp, burr-free edge.

Just enough to lightly coat the strop. Spray evenly, spread it to cover the surface, let it dry for a few minutes, and it’s ready to use.

Only reapply when it stops producing a sharp edge. The emulsion lasts a long time, so use sparingly.

Start with 10 light strokes per side, then repeat on the 1.5-micron side for another 10 strokes to refine and polish the edge.

Use the strop as the final step after fine diamond
or ceramic honing to remove any remaining burrs and polish the edge.
