Push the bolt forward and it drops into its detent and stays put. Pull it back and the tip disappears. There is no cap to set down and leave behind, no click to make a quiet room look up, and no spring getting tired three years in.

It is also the kind of mechanism you end up working absent-mindedly through a long phone call, which is not a feature anybody designed and is most of the fun of owning one.

A solid metal body in black Cerakote® shrugs off pocket wear, won't flex when you sit on it, and doesn't mind a shop floor. A few years in, the marks on it are the kind you get from carrying something every day, not the kind you get from buying something cheap.
