RMX™ Thumbstud Reverse Tanto, CPM-3V

SKU: WSFK04-109

Same handle, same thumbstud, same button lock. And the blade you've been asking for.

A manual-only reverse tanto in CPM-3V on a single-piece magnesium handle, opened with a thumbstud and closed with a button lock, one hand either way.

At 2.4 ounces it is light enough that you stop noticing it is in your pocket, and the whole knife comes apart with one screw when it needs cleaning or sharpening. This is the RMX for the person who already carries a knife every day and wants nothing to set up, nothing to convert and nothing to learn.

Simplicity is the innovation

Most knives add. A different lock, another deployment, a mechanism to learn. This one takes away, and what is left is a thumbstud, a button lock and a blade. Push the stud with your thumb and it is open. Press the button and it is closed. That is the whole operation, one hand either direction, and there is nothing to set up on the day it arrives.

The rest of the knife is built the same way. The handle is one piece of magnesium rather than a frame with scales screwed to it, so there are no seams for grit to sit in and nothing that can work loose. That is also why it weighs 2.4 ounces. Full metal, and light enough that it stops being a decision you make in the morning.

  • Thumbstud manual deployment provides quick, controlled one-handed opening with a repeatable feel.
  • CPM 3V Reverse Tanto blade (60-62 HRC) sharpened to 15° per side for clean slicing and precision cuts, with the toughness to handle hard daily use.
  • Integral magnesium handle is ultra-light, strong, and finished with Cerakote™.
  • The entire knife breaks down with a single screw to clean, sharpen, and reassemble. No specialty tools or skills required.
  • Deep finger choil and extended jimping give excellent grip and indexing.
  • Reversible pocket clip offers secure deep carry and lanyard access.

Product Features

One thumb open, one thumb closed, and that is the whole mechanism

The blade is drilled for the studs, so this is not something added to an RMX afterwards and not something you can fit to one you already own.

Your thumb finds the stud without looking by about the second try, and the button lock drops the blade closed the same way, which means you can open and close it while your other hand is holding whatever you are cutting. It stays manual.

This is the RMX that trades the manual-to-automatic swap for one action you do without thinking about it, so there is no pivot cartridge in the box, nothing to convert, nothing to tension, and it ships legal in all 50 states as sold. If push-button automatic is what brought you to the RMX line, the Drop Point and the standard Reverse Tanto both do it. This one does not, and that is the trade it makes

Built for the 9 to 5, with you on the 5 to 9

The blade is CPM-3V, a powder steel chosen for toughness rather than for a number on a chart, and the reverse tanto grind puts a thin, slicey edge in front of a spine that has metal behind it where it matters.

Tough and slicey is a hard combination to get and it is the reason this blade shape has the following it does. In practice it is a blade you can lean on. Cardboard all morning, strapping and shrink wrap in the afternoon, a length of hose or a bag of feed after work, without the edge folding on you or the tip becoming a thing you have to be careful with.

Every knife is sharpened and quality checked in Ashland, Oregon before it ships, and when it finally does go dull you are sharpening it back to the edge it came with, not reprofiling it.

One screw, and it is apart on your bench

A knife that gets used gets dirty. This one comes apart with a single screw, cleans out, and goes back together without a specialty tool, a jig, or any experience doing it before.

The handle is a single piece, so there is no second set of screws quietly backing out while you carry it.

Sharpen it, clear the pocket lint out of the mechanism, put it back to work. It is covered by the Work Sharp lifetime warranty either way.
