The RMX Blackout strips the full-sized RMX down to its most focused form: a blacked-out finish, a CPM 3V Reverse Tanto blade, and the proven RMX platform underneath. The result is a Reserve Series configuration that looks quiet, feels intentional, and puts the attention where it belongs: on the cut.The full-sized magnesium handle gives the Blackout a confident grip and balanced feel, while the Reverse Tanto blade brings piercing strength, slicing control, and a reinforced tip geometry built for daily utility.     Reserve Series CPM-3V But the dollar

    I own an RMX Drop Point in M390 steel and absolutely love it. When I got the early notice for the Reserve Series, I jumped on it. It came in this week. I really like the blade profile and the thinness. Really good. But, I would like to offer some mild criticism. I looked at the grind and thought to myself that there was no way this was 15 degrees. I thought that maybe the thinness was throwing me off. I clamped it up in my Pro Precision Adjust and very carefully started to identify the angle. 15 degrees wasn’t it, but 20 degrees cleaned up fast. Once I had that, I went burr hunting. I was a little surprised at how fast burrs developed. Being used to M390 and CPM-M4, I was a little surprised. Did the 3V get sharp? Oh yea, hair popping sharp, and it didn’t take long. Nice clean edge under a microscope. But, the dollar point is a tad high compared to the drop point, and I would have liked a bit better steel. Still, I look forward to working with it to see its edge retention. Again, súper happy with the reverse tanto profile and the thinness. If this edge holds up, I may take it to 15 degrees. Photo top to bottom: CPM-3V, M390, CPM-M4, CPM S30V. The M390 and the CPM-M4 are my favorites.

    Love the knife- super light and unusual construction.

    This is a very cool knife. When you get a very matte finish, you are getting a knife that is not going to be as wear-resistant, and it also just won't cut as well as an uncoated blade. The use-cases for coatings are (1) you live on the ocean, or (2) you are in the Special Forces and need a knife to deploy without glinting light. Otherwise, ANY coating will degrade the slicing ability of a blade.

    So, the use case #3- which is this one- it just looks really badass great. The coating is similar to the famed Boker Plus Karakurt Blackout, which in 154CM was $279, and an aluminum body. This is magnesium and one piece! So the price is right. I cannot speak to how wear-proof the finish is, because I don't actually carry this knife- I have it on my desk, and just enjoy the heck out of it. I swapped the auto into it- not quite as simple as it seems- but you get to adjust its tension, which is fantastic- instead of opening force that almost jumps the knife right out of your hand (hello, Boker), you can dial it down- this makes it much easier to one-hand close it, since there is less force behind it- but still ample force to open. As I said, I have not tested this knife in any strategic way- no spine impact testing, no edge testing- that is not why I purchased it. I don't buy super matte knives for EDC use, I buy them for joy.

    My ONE single gripe here- the clip. Work Sharp should make a titanium milled clip or Zircon or if it is possible magnesium. A standard stamped…

    My favorite EDC at this point

    I was briefly disappointed upon opening the box. Initial thought was that it seemed to be not as "special" as I was hoping. I have several EDC's with titanium handles. A few minutes of "playing" with it changed my mind. Looking closely, the one piece magnesium handle was light and beautiful with the Cerakote coating.

    I love the shape of the reverse tanto blade. I assumed that I would convert to automatic with the provided items. After using it for a short time I decided I liked the standard deployment. Pressing the button caused the blade to "fall out" with gravity. and a flick to open it. When open, depressing the button causes the blade to almost fully close with gravity and I can easily close it one handed.

    Very happy!
