RMX™ Drop Point

The Work Sharp RMX Drop Point blew me away from the moment I picked it up. The ability to switch between manual and automatic operation is genuinely impressive, but what really sets this knife apart is the magnesium handle. It gives the knife a unique combination of strength, lightness, and premium feel that you don’t get from typical aluminum or steel handles.

The ergonomics are spot‑on — the RMX feels natural, balanced, and ready for real use. I loved it so much that I immediately bought the RMX Thumbstud Drop Point, and that one delivered just as hard. The copper‑colored finish looks incredible, and the action is smooth, confident, and satisfying.

After debating which knife to buy next, choosing the RMX line was absolutely the right move. These knives are well‑designed, innovative, and genuinely fun to carry and use. Work Sharp nailed the formula.

I saw the RMX on a video and thought it could be a very good knife, but was a little concerned that it was just a gimmick to sell knives. Well, the gimmick part worked because I bought one, but it is definitely far from just a gimmick, this is one of my favorite knives, and the one I carry the most . It's really simple to change from manual to automatic mode, and with the help of my Work Sharp pivot pro sharpener, the blade never gets dull. I'm extremely glad I made the decision to buy both the knife and the sharpener.

Generally, this knife is innovative and “techy”, yet simple.

It is extremely light weight. This knife comes in a very nice card board box and the company provides a useful assortment of parts and extra parts.

I have only one request, add one millimeter to the width of the blade. Well maybe two requests, add back the dual bearing support when using the auto knife parts.

Well since my wife took this knife I will be ordering the all black out version.

As an auto EDC a great knife. It stays sharp, deploys well and is nice looking. It is awkward as a manual opener, but not terrible. After particularly wet camping trip the button corroded and seized. The knife would bot open. I disassembled it when I got home and cleaned it, then it operated fine. One other small problem is that you might have to put some more thread lock on the screw after a while. I still really like the knife, but having an uncoated magnesium action button is an achilles heel. I would buy it again, but have a back up in wet conditions. I would imagine this would not be a good work knife for some people. Still, it most cases, it operates well, holds an edge, and is great for many uses.

Knife blade and handle materials are great (surprised by how lightweight, yet sturdy feeling the magnesium handles are). Although the video makes the pivot swap seem quick and easy that was not my experience. I had issues with the auto-pivot spring seating correctly in the notch & ended up damaging both supplied auto pivot springs, so now, until I can order replacements I’m stuck with a manual opener (albeit a very nice manual opener).
