    First-gen is a winner!

Just got my RMX in the mail yesterday, ordered it from the June 30th batch. It's the black-bodied 3V reverse tanto and overall, I'm really impressed for the pricepoint. I wanted an integral for my collection and the novelty of the magnesium is a fun addition. Being a one-two punch of the first in the industry (that I know of) to be a manual/auto convertible plus the unique frame material would have been enough to get me to buy it. The fact it came in CPM-3V (one of my favorite steels) was just the cherry on top.

Here are some of my observations/gripes:

    1) I'm a little concerned about the hard 90° butt end of the frame causing premature wear on pockets. Seems like this should have a chamfer like the rest of the frame.

    2) How gritty the button feels on deployment. I hope this smoothes out with break-in use but seeing how it's likely the button on the coating on the blade, I could see this taking a long time.

    3) How poorly machined the exterior of the auto pivot is. I expected better, especially with how vocal the Work Sharp is about the quality control on these knives.

    4) There's just enough side-to-side play in the pocket clip that I expect it to create a premature wear point in the frame coating. And yes, I checked the pocket clip screw's tightness. It's quite snug.

    Some things I really like:

    1) I really enjoy the satisfying PING the button lock makes when securing the blade in the closed position.

    2) The company name on the spine of the blade is a nice touch. It does…

    Solid First Attempt by WorkSharp

This is the first knife I’ve seen that has excited me to own in some time. Love the innovative use in different materials like Magnesium alloy and high end blade steels at an affordable price. Blade came packaged well with lots of spare parts and clear instructions. Also, comes extremely sharp with an even edge which is what I’d expect from a sharpening company.

In the future I would like to see a version that is anodized instead of cerakoted. Use of copper washes instead of ball bearings and thumb studs for deployment. Think this would make it more durable for hard use or dirty applications.

    Awesome little tool!!!

Only a U.S. based family owned business would have the stones to green light the RMX line as their first ever knife. I can only imagine Dan must’ve had a plan B just in case or maybe not because they already knew who they hadaaaA. Either way, now their only issue is keeping them in stock. Hire more American workers! Send me a couple hundred blades to sharpen. Pay me in praise and free product! lol

P.S.- Is it too soon to request MagnaCut and/or Vanax blade steel? 💸🤪

    Already my favorite knife

Thin, slicy 3V, super lightweight and solid

Took it to the beach for a week and didn’t have any corrosion issues with Dan’s recommendation of an occasional sprits of WD-40

    Mostly love this knife.

This is the most expensive knife in my collection and I'll say given what I know now, I'd still buy it again given the opportunity.

There are many things I love about the RMX. Mainly the design, materials, how lightweight it is and the ingenuity of the manual/automatic changability.

Things I'd like to see change...

The blade does not center in auto mode (see pic).

When in auto mode, setting 1, the blade doesn't always lock in place. Moving it to setting 2 resolves this issue.

Blade play. The blade wobbles and if I tighten it any more, it will not deploy.
